Events

Throughout the year, the Madison Police Department takes part in a few sponsored activities. To keep updated on all city events, view the City Calendar.

National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Held twice a year (spring and fall), the National Prescription Take Back event aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications.

Old or unwanted medications can be brought to the Madison Police Department, who will turn them over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for disposal. If the National Take Back date and time is not convenient, you may drop off unwanted medications any time at the Police Department. For more information, please contact the department.

National Night out

Held every August, National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August (Texas celebrates on the first Tuesday in October). Neighborhoods host:
