The City of Madison, SD is seeking applications for a full time City Engineer who would work with city departments in conjunction with the City Administrator for the maintenance and new construction of city facilities and infrastructure. The position would work with professional engineers, architects, technicians, contractors, sub-contractors and provide guidance in capital improvement projects related to buildings and city infrastructure. The City Engineer would manage and review construction plans for all private development projects to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local ordinances and standard engineering practices and enforce the building code, draft easements, deeds, and oversee the projects within the engineering department by other personnel.
The position requires the knowledge and level of competency associated with the completion of a baccalaureate engineering degree from an accredited school. Must possess or have the ability to obtain and valid driver’s license and have experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions to be able to answer questions and resolve questions, usually associated with one to three years of experience in this field. A Professional Engineer certification is required. This position reports directly to the City Administrator and in conjunction with the Board of Commissioners and works closely with all city leaders of departments. Annual salary starts at $95,164.77 and is based on experience. The City of Madison offers an excellent benefit package.
